On September 22nd, 2021, CANFAR held its first annual Yorkville Block Party within one of Bloor-Yorkville’s most prestigious locations, 99 Yorkville Avenue. CANFAR safely welcomed close to 100 guests for a champagne welcome reception at the Christian Louboutin boutique and Taglialatella Gallery followed by a luncheon at Sofia restaurant. This first annual event was co-chaired by Sylvia Mantella, Christine Rezvanian, Isabella Baboury and Jessika Dufour.
The Yorkville Block Party helped raise funds for HIV research, testing & care and youth awareness — funds that are especially crucial right now. The COVID-19 pandemic has shone a bright spotlight on the health inequities within Canada and most of the barriers we’ve seen related to COVID-19 also ring true for HIV. One of our biggest challenges is to not let the HIV epidemic slip through the cracks in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic and CANFAR has its community of partners, sponsors and donors to thank for not letting that happen.
